A Mother's Day Gift Guide // Miss Dior

Monday, 5 March 2018

Now that we are approaching March 11th - Mothering Sunday and we endeavor to find that 'oh so perfect', almost last minute gift for the most important woman in our lives... it only feels appropriate that I sit down, pull out my notes, gather my thoughts and discuss exactly what I have ventured out this year to buy my Mum for Mother's Day.
Whilst my Mum would often request a box of Maltesers (don't worry, it's on the list), over a bouquet of flowers from M&S, one thing I figured would be a gift that will truly keep giving in 2018, is essentially perfume - spritz, after spritz, after spritz. At the Perfume Shop we take your Mum's favourite flower, we tap it into our Michael Edwards App and bobs your uncle - we'll provide you with a list of new and old fragrances that will not only evoke lovely, motherly thoughts and continue to do so months down the line, but we'll also have your favourite woman smelling rosy (depending on her favourite flower of course).

One fragrance that captivated me last year; was the 2017 reinvention, or reworking if you prefer... of Miss Dior's Eau de Parfum - its first and many say finest of scents.

The new Miss Dior Eau de Parfum reveals the femininity of a sensual floral - a perfect fragrance for Spring/Summer. Its heart is a floral declaration that combines the beauty of Grasse Rose with the boldness of Damacus Rose, both wrapped in a ribbon of fresh notes of Calabrian Bergamot. This handcrafted creation is woven with Rosewood from French Guiana and Pink Pepper from Reunion Island for heightened character. It's a Miss Dior fragrance that will leave you feeling love-struck.

Whilst doing my research; I also discovered that the new Miss Dior contains a good dose of hedione, a synthetic created in the Sixties that gives many modern perfumes their addictive quality - I'm keen to find out what other scents fall under this umbrella.

I personally feel that the result of this reinvention is something quite different and out of the norm, when compared to the original. However, it is unmistakably a Dior scent and its very easy to pick up on this the moment its been sprayed.

According to Francois Demachy, Maria Grazia Chirus was really quite clear that she wanted the new Miss Dior to be floral - but in a new and innovative way, it certainly doesn't disappoint.

What Mother's Day scent will you be purchasing this year?
